Stiles and Hooker were engaged by FPC to design and detail new processing space within part of an existing dry store at Fonterra’s Tirau site.

The project scope was expanded to include piled foundations for silos, foundations for steam services, a services bridge, and a support frame for the evaporator.

Although working in the existing building posed challenges such as particularly limited headroom and access for the precast panel electrical building to be built, the project was completed successfully.

Stiles and Hooker completed 140 drawings, incorporating materials such as insulated panel ceiling and structural steel framing, fibre-reinforced concrete overlay slabs and piled foundations to support silos and precast concrete for electrical rooms.
